Biography

Albert Castel was the professor emeritus of history at Western Michigan University. Castel joined the faculty in 1960 and retired in 1991 after 31 years of service to the University. He was a professor of history, regarded as one of the leading authorities on the Civil War in the West and authored numerous books and more than 100 articles on the subject. He won the Lincoln Prize for Best Civil War book published in 1992.
