The Herschfield Family Letters

Scope and Contents The Herschfields were residents of Kalamazoo from 1905 until at least the 1940 Census. The letters and postcards were all written by family members and by a David Herschfield, who was born August 12th 1898 and died in April 29th 1968, had spent time with the American Expeditionary Force from 1918-1919 during WWI. The Hikers Collection

Scope and Contents The collection amounts to .05 cubic feet and is composed of three club program schedules for The Hikers, a club which began in 1921. The three club program booklets are from 1932, 1941 and 1947 and contain membership roster with names and contact information along with officers and a yearly schedule of activities, including monthly meetings and hikes around the community.

William Patton (1798-1879) added extensive notes and edited the American edition, where it was first published in 1833-34.
