Abstract Papers of Msgr. Joseph Turk (1895-1951) including research notes, manuscript drafts, offprints, correspondence, newspaper clippings and postage stamps. The research papers and notes are concerned with the Cistercian Statuta and important figures in Cistercian history, such as Bernard of Clairvaux, William of St. Thierry and Stephen Harding. The newspaper clippings relate to mid-twentieth century politics in Yugoslavia.

Scope and Contents Philip Farnsworth was born in Pennsylvania in 1804. By 1850 he and his family were living in Otsego in Allegan County working as farmers. In 1860 he is staying at a hotel in Otsego and again working as a farmer. By 1870 he is living in Mud Springs, El Dorado County, California working as a miner. Scope and Contents The scrapbook contains a large number of newspaper clippings relating to social welfare, local, regional, and national political events, myriad open letters printed in the News-Palladium (today the Herald-Palladium), and personal letters relating to his political career and service as postmaster in Benton Harbor. The letters and pamphlets relate to speeches given or attended by Roman Jarvis.

Scope and Contents The Herschfields were residents of Kalamazoo from 1905 until at least the 1940 Census. The letters and postcards were all written by family members and by a David Herschfield, who was born August 12th 1898 and died in April 29th 1968, had spent time with the American Expeditionary Force from 1918-1919 during WWI.
