B. Feldman & Co.

 Organization

Biography

Bert Feldman founded his firm around 1909. He visited the U.S. in 1907 and 1912 and secured the rights to many successes: A Bird In A Gilded Cage, Alexander’s Ragtime Band, and The Teddy Bears Picnic. The firm's greatest success prior to the 1920s was It’s a Long Way to Tipperary written by Jack Judge and Harry William, which became the most famous marching song of the First World War. The firm was purchased by Francis, Day & Hunter, one of its major rivals in popular music publishing, in 1945. In 1972 that firm became part of EMI Music Publishing Ltd.
