Biography

The Kalamazoo Valley Wood Carvers Guild was formed in 1984 in Kalamazoo, Michigan. Buster Howell was the first president of the KVWCG. Members of the KVWCG paid yearly dues and met at the Kalamazoo Art Center. The purpose of the Guild was to “promote and encourage the artistry and craftsmanship of woodcarving through demonstrations, workshops, displays, and shows.” Members of the Guild attended such events as Kalamazoo County Fair where they would display and sell their wood carvings. Members also held workshops to teach members of the community the basics of wood carving. The Kalamazoo Valley Wood Carvers Guild was active as of 2017.
