Biography
Dr. James Clifton (Jan 6, 1927-July 20, 2000) was a Scholar-in-Residence at Western Michigan University after his retirement 1990 until his death. Prior to that he was Assistant Dean and Frankenthal Professor of Anthropology at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay from 1970-1990. He published seventeen books and nearly sixty professional and reference essays. He was consulted for numerous book reviews, was a consulting editor for the Journal of Applied Behavioral Science, as well as a research consultant and expert witness for Native American rights cases.

This collection is mainly composed of research material collected by Dr. James Clifton from the late 1960s to the mid-1980s.
