Edward Estlin Cummings; born October 14, 1894 in Cambridge Mass.; died September 3, 1962 in Joy Farm in North Conway, New Hampshire; known as E. E. Cummings, with the abbreviated form of his name often written by others in lowercase letters as e e cummings; poet, painter, essayist, author, and playwright.

Scope and Contents From the Collection: This is a collection of the personal papers of American poet and Western Michigan University English professor John Warren Woods (1926-1995). After completing his BS and MA at Indiana University, he began his academic career in the English department at Western Michigan University in 1955. He retired in 1992 as a full professor.
