Biography

George L. (Lem) Trombley was born in Saginaw, Michigan in 1883. Trombley and his wife, Maude, moved to Kalamazoo, Michigan, in 1905 where he worked as a jeweler and watchmaker. Soon he was playing the trumpet for a popular local dance band, Salomon's Band. In 1910 Trombley began teaching music out of his home in Kalamazoo, Michigan. He established the Kalamazoo Conservatory of Music and Associated Arts in 1926. Trombley moved to Santa Rosa, California, where he founded the Santa Rosa Orchestra. He died on December 30, 1963, in Santa Rosa, California.
