James Platt Claphan, born in Clapham Rise, London, about 1808, living in Kalamazoo, Michigan. He married Ann Elizabeth Cotton and had two children, James G. and Magdelan. James Clapham died in 1887 and is buried in Mountain Home Cemetery, Kalamazoo, Michigan.
