(Including a dedication copy of a humanist manuscript on vellum, written and illuminated for Pope Calixtus III (Zopello, ca. 1455-58); illuminated chronicles in French by Foissart and Monstrelet, printed on vellum by Verard; an important collection of illustrated incunabula from a European private library, including the Dutch Dialogus creaturarum, Schatzbehalter, Stultifera navis, La Mer des Histoires; fine early printed books, including the first edition of Hortus sanitatis with contemporary hand-colouring (Mainz: 1491), a Verona incunable illuminated by Albrecht Dürer for Willibald Pirckeimer (Josephus, 1480); the rare first edition of the first printed book on midwifery (Roesslin, 1513).)
