Scope and Contents
(The unique 5th to 6th century papyrus of part of the works of Didymos the Blind; a 13th century English illustrated scroll; the long-lost dedication copy presented to Pope Julius II of Giles of Viterbo's Discourse on Discoveries in the Far East, 1508; an outstanding Book of Hours illuminated in Ghent or Bruges, c.1510, with 84 large miniatures by Gerard Horenbout and Simon Bening; A Book of Hours illuminated in London, c. 1440, with 32 full-page miniatures by the Fastolf Master; a Bible illuminated in Oxford, c. 1230-35, by William de Brailes, being the earliest known work by the earliest documented professional artist; German manuscripts in Medieval bindings, including a 12th century glossed Psalter probably from Lambach Abbey and in a cuir-cisele binding; Books of Hours, Breviaries and Bibles; and the Liturgy of St. John Chrysostom, in Greek, 1643.)
