Beatrice Moore Collection, bulk: 1925 - 1930, Rec'd 3/1/2018
Scope and Contents
Beatrice J Moore was born in 1907. She grew up in Battle Creek with her father, mother and sister. Her father was a truck driver and her mother stayed at home. Whilst still living at home, Moore attended Western State Normal School under the rural education department. Information about her attendance is scattered; but it is confirmed she was a sophomore in 1925, graduated from the Rural Education Department in the summer of 1926, rented a cap and gown in 1927 and continued to take courses and appeared in the 1930 year book. Whilst a student at Western, she was a part of the Rural Life/Country Life Club as the treasurer and was involved with the YWCA. As an alumni in 1931 and 1932 she volunteered at banquets and homecoming and supported the football team. She continued living in the area into the 1940s, marrying Floyd M Parrot in 1945, who died in Bedford in 1986. Therefore it is likely she continued to live in the area until that time. It is unknown of her whereabouts after 1986 and therefore the date of her death.

Custodial History
This collection contains one scrapbook assembled by Beatrice Moore (1907-?) while she attended Western State Normal School roughly between the years 1924-1932 as both a student and alumni. It was received from the Kalamazoo Public Library.
Physical Description
The collection amounts to one 23 page, paper bound scrapbook that is 11.5” in height and 8” in width housed in a book box with a variety of news clippings, programs, tickets, receipts and handwritten memos taped inside. The last several pages contain no content. The collection is in fair condition. Several pieces of tape hold together the front cover. All of the pages show wear and/or discoloration, some are separated from the binding. Much of the contents which compose the scrapbook are falling off and/or overlapping. But the contents themselves are in good condition and are legible.
