Ledger of the Superintendent of the Poor, 1863-1871
Scope and Contents
Accounting ledger recording the balances of the Poor Fund accounts from January 5, 1863 to January 2, 1866. The ledger lists the date, order number, person to whom payable, remarks, and costs for supplies for poor families, medical attendence, transfer of a poor person, temporary relief, and interment of a poor person. The entries are listed in chronological order, no index. The first entry begins with an unexpected balance of the Poor Funds on hand on October 7, 1862 and amount appropriated by the Board of Supervisors. On the first page, handwritten in ink, is a list of superintendents on January 3, 1863 for Kalamazoo County.
