Newsletter 3, August/September 1989

 Item — Folder: 1

Scope and Contents

From the Collection:

The front cover of the newsletters usually features a main story, like big events happening in the school, or the graduating class’ top ten students. The first page of the newsletters has a formula: there’s the directory for the different schools, a brief calendar of important days (like holidays, when school starts after breaks, etc.), Board of Education meetings, School Board Meetings, and a little blurb of information to fill up any empty space. Depending on the time of year the school newsletter is from, the contents may vary. For example, in the newsletter from June/July of 1989, there is not only a list of graduates, but preschool registration, schoolwide test results, and the like. No two newsletters have exactly the same articles, with different topics each time. Most feature important school news or stories from classrooms, like the weather policies for snow or highlighting third grader spelling bees. Another reoccurring feature is the section labeled “From the Superintendent’s Desk,” which covers various topics like school budgets, parent-teacher conferences, more in-depth weather procedures, and other official business. Aside from the postal patron section, the back cover of the newsletters feature whatever news is relevant during the release of the issue, from sports schedules to education surveys to adult high school schedules.
