The collection amounts to .05 cubic feet and is composed of one small booklet, 8”x9.” The main title is “Life is Good in Kalamazoo.” It has a total of twelve pages with black and white photographs. The color red is also used throughout the booklet. The booklet was produced by Hammond Machinery Builders in 1952 for their 70th anniversary. It contains all types of information about the area and has a centerfold filled with images of machines made by the company.The booklet is in good condition.

Biographical / Historical

Hammond Machinery Builders, now known as Hammond Roto-Finish, traces its beginnings in Kalamazoo to 1881 with a firm begun by William Hill. W.C. Hammond, who started working there in 1917, purchased the company in 1926 which by that time had gone into the metalworking industry. In 1928, the company moved to its current location at 1600 Douglas Avenue.
