The collection amounts to .25 cubic feet and is composed of two volumes from the Kalamazoo Police Department from January, 1910 to April, 1912. Both have daily reports that were called into the Police Department. The volumes made by Ihling Brothers Everard Company, are 14 x 8 ½ x 1 inches each holding approximately 150 pages numbered on each side with an average of 300 pages of written information. There are approximately five to seven entries on each page ranging from one to several sentences. The entries were written with India ink by a variety of departmental employees, some of which are easier to read than others. The entries are dated and some give the time of the call.

For the most part the ledgers are in good shape although there is wear on both of them. Both are worn on both of their corners. In addition, either all or half of the leather on their spines are gone. Library repair tape has been used on both ledgers on the inside front and back. Both have a musty smell. One has a label on the front saying, “Daily Reports of Police Matters from January 1, 1910 to April 10, 1911” in ink although slightly faded. Care should be taken when viewing these ledgers.
