Scope and Contents
The catalogue was produced in 1895 by the Comstock Manufacturing Company in Kalamazoo, Michigan. The company was a manufacturer of automatic cut-off engines, boilers, pumps, and power transmitting machinery. The catalogue includes illustrations of its products along with their prices and information.

Biographical / Historical
The company was founded in 1895, claiming the title as the first manufacturing company in Kalamazoo County. Nehemiah Chase of Kalamazoo was President, H.B. Hoyt Vie-President, and W. G. Henshaw as Secretary and Treasurer. The company sold its products locally and also in some cases internationally to Australia, for example. The company faced lawsuits by its employees for back wages in July of 1914 after workplace injuries and incidents occurred, as well as when the company was forced to close for a week and a half after a large fire that destroyed much of its building. Comstock Manufacturing Company shut its doors for good soon thereafter.
Language of Materials
The collection consists of .05 cubic feet. The catalogue’s dimensions are 9” x 5.75”. The covers are dark hunter green with gold writing while the interior pages are a light tan with black ink. There is no fading on the pages, but there is a slight strip of fading along the bottom of the front cover. The catalogue’s pages are bound by two metal staples and the cover is glued on the edge of the binding.
The collection consists of one catalogue titled Comstock Manufacturing Co., Manufacturers of Automatic Cut-Off Engines, Boilers and Power Transmitting Machinery, Kalamazoo, Mich. U.S.A., 1895.
