This collection contains documents pertaining to Alvan Motor Freight, Inc., and various acquisition agreements carried out between Alvan, Putnam Transfer, and Daum. Also, the collection includes internal documents related to the production of a hand book for non-union employees, as well as various bank loan agreements.

Biographical / Historical

Alvan Motor Freight, Inc., Kalamazoo, Michigan, began with the purchase of the Allegan-Kalamazoo Truck Line by Albert Van Zoeren in 1941. In 1945 the company bought the South Haven-Kalamazoo Truck Line. In 1978 the company bought Key Line Freight Inc. The Alvan Motor Freight company closed in 2008.

Physical Description

This collection is approximately 2.0 cubic feet and is made up of 4 boxes. The majority of the collection is in fairly good condition. The metal paper clips and staples have been removed and replaced with plastic archival clips. All of the documents have been placed in acid-free folders. With continued preservation and careful handling of the materials, the collection will remain in good condition and useable.
