Alice Thomas Vivian Collection
Scope and Contents
Theses binders contain notes from Alice’s classes that she took at Bronson school of Nursing. In addition to course notes there is a list of rules for the nurses while at school. The notes in these binders included different conditions and cures, the history or nurses and the history of nurses in other countries. The photo in this collection is of Alice in her nurses’ uniform. Alice was born in 1914; after she finished nursing school in 1935 she went to work for Dr. Hoebeke. She left work and married her first husband Berwyn Brown in 1940 and had one daughter, Margaret Ann. Berwyn Brown was killed in action during World War II. Alice returned to working for Dr. Hoebeke. Alice married Glen O. Wood who also died in 1973. Alice’s final marriage was to Howard Vivian in 1983. Alice died in 1984.

This collection contains two notebooks and a photo from Alice Thomas Vivian while she was a student at Bronson School of Nursing between 1931 and 1935.
Physical Description
This collection is .25 cubic feet and fits in one box. This collection was kept in its original bindings. Some pages heave fallen out but remain with their binder. The binders themselves are in decent condition, parts are much worn.
