Biographical / Historical
The Southwest Michigan Chapter of the American Guild of Organists was certified October 29, 1948. The Chapter serves choir directors, organists and organ fans in the Southwest Michigan area. The Southwest Michigan Chapter held its first regional conference in 1953. The Chapter held the Great Lakes Region V conference again in 2013 in Kalamazoo. The Chapter hosted several other Chapters from the Mid-west region during this five-day event. The Chapter hosts meetings and events throughout the Kalamazoo area.

Physical Description
The collection amounts to 1.25 cubic feet and is composed of various records from the Chapter. Many of the records relate to the regional convention that the Chapter hosted twice (1953 and 2013). Overall the documents are in good condition. The majority of the documents are typed with the exception of a few handwritten letters. These letters are still fairly legible. Some of the records from the 1950’s have begun to yellow. Some of the pages have rust marks from old paper clips and staples.
