Biographical / Historical
There is very little information known about the Carson and Gray families. However, what is known is that the families had been living in the Kalamazoo area since the early 1900’s. Marriage between Doris Carson (1907-1993) and Edward H. Gray (1907-1975) combined the two families. The couple was married in 1933 and had no children.

Language of Materials
This collection is composed material from the Carson-Gray family who have been long time residents of the Kalamazoo County area. The collection is mainly composed of photographs of the two families but there is some written/printed material as well as two trip diaries composed by Doris Carson.
The trip diaries are from 1930 and 1930 and are in good condition. The cover of the first diary is softbound and titled My Trip. The pages are connected to the spines and the pages are all typed and still legible. There are small black and white photographs placed throughout the diary. The second trip diary is very similar to the first. The only difference is that the second diary has no title. The dimensions of the diaries are 4x7” and 7x9”. The most interesting note about the trip diaries is that they are extremely detailed, they lay out the exact time of departure and when passing through notable locations as well as keeping track of the total miles traveled. Each diary has a brief overview of the previous day of the trip.
The photographs are black and white as well as color. The sizes range from 3.5x3.5”, 5x7”, 8x10”. The photographs are in good condition and placed in protective slips. The photographs makeup about 1.25 cubic feet of this collection.
This collection came to the archives from the Galesburg-Charleston District Library in 2019.
