Hubert J. Boekeloo was born on May 28, 1918 in Kalamazoo, MI to John Boekeloo and Grace Wagonmaker. He attended Milwood Public Schools and subsequently went to Kalamazoo Central High School within the Kalamazoo Public Schools, where he graduated in 1936.

The certificate titled “Certificate of Award” was dated to the end of the school year being May 20, 1927 and was given by his teacher, Mrs. Elga Obrien and the commissioner of schools, Mary Ensfield. The reason for the award is an “Honorable Testimonial for being Neither Tardy Nor Absent” during this school year.

The certificate titled “Milwood Public Schools” was given on June 10, 1932 and was given by the Superintendent, Clarence E. Leonard as well as the President and the Secretary, whose names are not entirely decipherable. The reason for the award is to certify that he completed the “Course of Study prescribed by the Board of Education” for the Eighth Grade and will have admission to the Ninth Grade.
