This collection is composed of one paper certificate documenting the marriage of Chauncey and Abelle Beard in Bronson, MI in 1872.

Biographical / Historical
The certificate was dated August 25, 1872 and officiated by William Lamoreux. It is a Certificate of Marriage certifying the marriage of Chauncey Beard and Abelle Jump, both of Bronson, MI in Branch County. At the time of marriage, they were ages 21 and 16. The witnesses present were George Heull and Mary Dunham, both of Bronson, MI as well.
An Ancestry search was done and very little information was produced. There is a possibility that Abelle’s name was documented as either Adine or Kump.
The certificate was printed and sold by Wm. A. Throop and Co. in Detroit.

This item was found in the collection during a move in 2013.
Physical Description
There is handwritten information in ink alongside the printed information. There is a decorative boarder around the information. There is some handwriting in ink on the back top left corner reading “9629.” The item is titled with “Certificate of Marriage” and just below this are two poems in quotation. At the very top, there is a printed “29” just below a component of the border design.
The certificate is in fair condition. It is adhered to a thin poster board material. There is some dark staining in the bottom left corner and up the left side. There is some light staining over a majority of the certificate, although all of the information is still legible. There is a crease line down the middle of the entire certificate, not the board though.
