This collection amounts to 1.0 cubic feet of material. The collection is a set of diaries, accounting books, and other miscellaneous documents pertaining to the economics of Judson A. Edmunds and his family. The earliest dated document is from 1832, while the latest dates to 1908. 12 of the 15 diaries are written by Judson. The diary dated 1906-1909 are written by Judson’s wife, Mary E. Rowe Edmunds. Two of the diaries are written by their daughter, Jeannette Edmunds Maile, dated 1894 and 1906-07. The collection also includes a diary written by Judson A. Edmunds in the years 1869-1907, when he served as a Justice of Peace for Schoolcraft. Most of the diaries are bound in black or brown leather. Some of them are bound colorfully in a red, white and blue hardcover, which seem to bear the most damage and weathering of the collection. The condition of the collection is good. There are signs of aging and weathering on the leather diary covers, as well as some page tears throughout the books. Overall, the collection is well kept.
