Warren Family Records
Scope and Contents
This collection contains twenty-seven personal diaries concerning the daily lives of members of the Warren family. Also included are three diaries concerning the life of William Gardiner from Jackson County, Indiana, who is not connected to the Warren family. William’s diaries detail the daily weather and his everyday activities, including school. Each diary contains a year’s worth of entries, ranging from 1860-1917. The diaries contain various accounts of everyday life and events in the Branch County, Michigan area. The Warren family diaries are written by Samuel E. Warren (1843-1900), Henrietta “Nettie” Bickford Warren (1850-1923) and their daughter Jessie Warren (1877-1908). Samuel Warren was a civil war veteran in the Michigan 11th regiment, out of Quincy, Michigan, though none of the diaries concern his time in the war. There is a single diary written by Lillie Clark (unknown) from Janesville, Wisconsin dating from 1872-1875. Lillie is of no relation to the Warrens or William Gardner. Lillie’s diary details the daily weather and her school activities.
