Scope and Contents

The booklet includes a variety of information pertaining to the public schools for the 1922-1923 school year, including pictures of the school buildings, a school year calendar, list of staff, tuition rates, class descriptions, and more. Aside from the more standard classes like English, math, and physics, some other courses include agriculture and animal husbandry. Stenography, penmanship, and typography are also all included.

Biographical / Historical

Three Rivers Public Schools is a school district in Three Rivers, Michigan. Murray J. Huss, one of the members of the board of education in Three Rivers, went on to have Murray J. Huss Second Ward School named after him posthumously in 1932. Though not all of the buildings shown in the booklet have survived to the present day, many of the students were simply integrated into other schools. The Huss Elementary school, for example, was repurposed after its closing in the 1980s as an adult education center, before being sold to *culture is not optional, a community organization.

Physical Description

Folded, the booklet measures 6 inches x 9 inches while unfolded, it measures 12 inches x 9 inches. The booklet is in good condition. There are a few spots of discoloration on the pages, the edges in particular, but otherwise there’s little damage in the form of tears or creases on the paper. The staple binding seems to have rusted a bit, but holds up rather well.
