Biographical / Historical
The Kalamazoo County Agricultural Society is the oldest such organization in the State, founded in 1845. One of their main activities has been to sponsor an annual county fair, the first one held in 1846. Currently the Society continues the annual event, held in August of each year under an agreement with the County of Kalamazoo.

Abstract
The collection is composed of items relating to the Kalamazoo County Fair from the years 1973 to 2010. The Fair is sponsored by the Kalamazoo County Agricultural Society.
Source of Acquisition
These items came from two collections A-738 (Kalamazoo Chamber of Commerce) and A-500 (Waldo Library). The 2010 items were acquired by staff. In addition, more items were added in 2011 from A-2670.
Physical Description
The items range in size from 8 ½"x11" to 11 ½"x17". With the exception of the premium books the items are multicolored and printed on either glossy paper or newsprint. Two of the premium books are 8 ½"x11" and have information on all the various competitive categories for all ages along with the value of the various prizes. The third premium book is 4 ¼"x5 ¾" and has a dark pink and white cover. All the items are in good condition. The small premium book is from 1973 and has been flattened. It also has yellowed tape in the middle of both the front and back covers. The other premium books show some wear on the covers. The newspaper supplement from 1985 is yellowed.
