Scope and Contents Scrapbook of black and white photographs taken in Southeast Asia and Japan from 1950 to 1951. Merze Tate was awarded a Fulbright Scholarship in 1950-1951 to teach geopolitics in India and was attached to the Visva-Bharati University as a visiting professor. She also took the opportunity to travel to other countries in East Asia and was commissioned by the U.S. State Department to produce travelogues of the places she visited. She traveled solo accompanied, as she put it, only by her camera....
