Scope and Contents A leaf from "The Book of the Dead" written on Egyptian papyrus. Eighteenth to Twentieth Dynasty. This fragment was burned sometime in its recent history, and therefore was mounted on paper in order to preserve it. The ink was made of plain lamp-black or charcoal mixed with water and an adhesive added.
