Veterans of World War I, Barracks #551, Ladies Auxiliary was formed on May 7, 1956. The organization was composed of wives, widows, and daughters of World War I veterans. The group first met at the home of Vera Moyer, 1833 Royce Avenue, Kalamazoo. It later moved to the American Legion Hall in Kalamazoo.

Two ledgers of minutes, 1956-1961, and an invitation from the Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary, Department of Michigan, to meet Helen Harys, Department Commander, Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary at the Holiday Inn, Kalamazoo, Michigan.
