Biography
Abstract:
Joseph Hart was a popular American vaudevillian entertainer, writer, theatrical producer, director and manager, songwriter and stage and screen actor. In his teens Hart toured with I.W. Baird's Minstrel Show and was a favorite for his banjo playing, singing and comedy routines. In about 1888, he began writing, and performing in his own productions, including a stage adaptation of the popular comic strip, Foxy Grandpa. He also appeared in the Foxy Grandpa films. Secondary sources have varied as to his birth date, confirmed as June 6, 1861.
