Carl Russell Hodge was born August 13, 1901 in Paw Paw, Michigan. City directories from the 1950s list him as a factory worker. He is credited with being the name behind "Carl's Old Dutch Station", a gas station or auto station on Westnedge in Kalamazoo, Michigan. Hodge was married in Indiana in 1930, was drafted for World War II in 1942, and died in 1957, in Kalamazoo, Michigan.
