Biography

William E. Simms, Jr., was the father of Jacquelyn Vandaliah Simms. According to a scrapbook of ephemera collected by Merze Tate (Scrapbook 3), William Simms was a graduate of North Carolina A. and T.

According to a certificate of marriage for his daughter (found in the North Carolina, U.S., Marriage Records, 1741-2011), he had passed away by the time 1979 when Jacquelyn remarried.

Scope and Contents An ivory-colored scrapbook containing letters from the Simm family to Merze Tate written between September 1942 to May 1950. Most letters were written by Ida Vandaliah (Larkin) Simms, an Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority member with Merze Tate, concerning Ida's daughter Jacquelyn (born September 9, 1942).
