The Frank Allen Bookplate Collection represents the collecting of Frank Allen, a Western Michigan University Librarian and Jasper Green Pennington, a student of Frank Allen's who was inspired by him to begin collecting bookplates on his own. Frank Allen donated his collection of handmade bookplates to Western Michigan University in 1965. He had been amassing his collection of bookplates for twenty years before his donation.
