Physical Description

This Series amounts to .05 cubic feet and is composed of one menu from the American Hotel in Kalamazoo for Thanksgiving on November 28, 1912. The menu measures 6 ¾” x 10” folded and 13” unfolded. The back and front covers are heavy-bond cream colored paper, which has yellowed. The front has an illustration of a young woman, in a wide brim hat done in shades of brown. Towards the bottom of the front cover is the word, “Thanksgiving” in silver print along with the words, “The American Hotel, Kalamazoo, Mich. Ernest McLean, Mgr. In addition there is an embossed beer stein, wine bottle, glasses, turkey and various vines. The back cover is plain. Tied to the cover is the menu with a cream-colored ribbon and bow. A piece of the bow came off but is in the folder. The menu has several courses including main dishes, vegetables, salads, desserts and drinks. The print is in brown and red ink. The menu is in fair condition. The back and front cover is unattached in parts and overall there is some discoloration. In the menu page there is discoloration from the ribbon. Overall, there is discoloration on several pages. One needs to be careful when looking at this menu.
