Curtis graduated from Western Michigan College in 1947 or 1948 (he’s a senior in the 1947 yearbook, but still listed as a student in the 1948 city directory). In 1950, he taught at Kalamazoo Central High School. According to the directory, by 1974 Curtis was teaching in Mishawaka, Indiana. He was a member of the Bethel College Church of Mishawaka.
