Crossroads Club Collection
Scope and Contents
The collection is composed of records and photos regarding the Crossroads Club, which was active in and around Galesburg, Michigan, dating from 1931 to the 1970s. The scrapbook is 44 pages long and contains photographs, newspaper clippings, meeting notes, and by-laws.

The Crossroads Clubs earned money from rummage sales, food sales, white elephant sales, card parties, and plays. They used this money to sponsor the Chix Club and the Bandettes. The Chix Club was composed of daughters of the members of the Crossroads Club. The Bandettes was composed of members of the Crossroads Club who would use kitchen utensils as musical instruments and sing songs for people. The Bandettes performed for veterans as well as factory workers.
Throughout the late 1960s the group became less active until it eventually ended in the early 1970s.
Physical Description
The collection amounts to .5 cubic feet and is composed of records and a scrapbook from the Crossroads Club which was located around Galesburg, Michigan from 1931 to the 1970s. The scrapbook measures 14.5”x12”x.75” and has a vinyl front and back. It is bound with string. The scrapbook is in good condition, showing signs of age including yellowing and some tears. Many items in the scrapbook are beginning to come unglued.
The collection contains 3 notebooks, 2 of which measure 10”x8”, the other measuring 8.5”x7”. The notebooks are in good shape. The metal coil at the side of the notebooks is beginning to rust. The pages in the notebooks are handwritten with black and blue ink, as well as pencil. The pages show yellowing, and some have tears and stains.
The collection also contains 9 folders which each measure 14.5”x9.5”. The folders are made up of documents from the years which the Crossroads Club was active. Some of the documents in these folders are typed with black ink, while other are handwritten in black and blue ink, as well as pencil. The documents in these folders show yellowing, and there are some tears.
