Marlborough Condominium Association Collection
Scope and Contents
The collection is composed of 74 blueprints, 36”x24” of the Marlborough Apartments, 471 W. South St., Kalamazoo, Michigan. The blueprints are copies made in 1979. Also included is an electronic copy of the architectural drawings on a CD in the Donor file. The Marlborough Apartments were designed by the local architectural firm of Billingham and Cobb and built by local contractor Henry VanderHorst. Reports are that it cost over $250,000 to build. It is located on the south side of W. South Street between S. Park Street and S. Westnedge Ave. Since the late 1970s, the building has been a condominium. The building was built in the Mission Revival Style.

Physical Description
There are a total of 74 sheets, 36”x24”. Sixty-one of them are bound in sections 32, 15 and 15. In addition there are 12 loose sheets. The copies were made by Wheaton Blue Print and Supply Company in October, 1979. The blueprints show details of both the exterior and interior of the building, completed in 1923. The original blueprints would have been done on linen. The condition of the blueprints varies from page to page. The top page of one large section, which shows the building’s exterior, has been torn. There were attempts to repair it with tape. Some of the pages have corners that have been folded. With some of the pages the print is dark although it continues to be legible. The collection amounts to approximately .10 cubic feet. The CD was made on October 10, 2009.
