This docket was purchased from John I. Herrick who was a bookseller and stationer who operated out of Detroit. The docket itself contains many civil cases spanning over a three year period. They are the cases tried by John Balkeom. The cases he tired are civil cases that give a brief description of the case, and damages and costs awarded. On the bottom of many of the case pages is the date that the payment was made.

Candace Anderson and others found information about women in Michigan History through diaries, letters and other secondary sources. The women she included were Madame Magdelaine LaFramboise, Pamela Thomas, Sojourner Truth, Mary Wallace, Madelon Stockwell Turner, Jenny Justine Jokala, Viola Corrigan and Josephine Casey. The back cover lists the other artists that aided her in the production of this record.
