Claude Robinson Ledger

Scope and Contents Claude Robinson (1880-1957) lived in Leonidas, Michigan. He owned a blacksmith shop where he occasionally created custom cabinets, shelves etc. His shop was located downtown on Main Street in Leonidas. He worked until he passed away at age 77. This ledger contains all expenditures and transactions that took place from January 1, 1908-August 30, 1909. He frequently did shoeing jobs and repaired buggies among other tasks. Dr. Syndergaard’s notes on the ledger are located in the donor file.

Clyde Cory Collection

Scope and Contents Letters written by Clyde Vern Cory to his wife, Molly, and his family while he was serving in World War I, November 21,1917- April 21, 1919. The letters reveal that he did not face combat, but was part of a military band that played often for newly recruited soldiers and nurses in hospitals and town squares. Scope and Contents While in the military Cyril wrote letters to his parents: Rufus and Emma and his siblings: Solon and Celesta. The majority of his letters detailed the condition of his health, what he had done recently (mainly camp life, no war related information) and a recap of previous correspondence.Cyril Tyler (1841-1913) was born in Italy, New York and later moved to Wakeshma Township, Kalamazoo County in 1860. Scope and Contents Letter to the Ward and Dolson Company in Charlotte, Michigan from D. C. and H. C. Reed and Company, Kalamazoo, Michigan on May 4, 1886. The letter was written by Geo A. Douglas asking Ward and Dolson to ship one buggy to Orson Douglas, Constantine, Michigan.

The letter contains two parts. The first part is a request for a buggy to be shipped to Constantine Michigan and the second part adding a question about record keeping.

Scope and Contents The collection was donated by David Slesdet. The collection was originally owned by Erwin Slesdet, who worked as the cost accountant for Sutherland Paper Company. The Kalamazoo Sanitary Carton Company was renamed the Sutherland Paper Company in 1917. In 1959 they merged with Kalamazoo Vegetable Parchment Company to become the KVP Sutherland. Scope and Contents The D.C. Wooden Company was founded by Durward C. Wooden (18 Jul 1892 - Nov 1986) of Kalamazoo, MI. The earliest the company is found in the city directories is 1922, at 419-421 Church St. By 1935 the company had relocated to 344 Henrietta St. D.C. Wooden was married twice and in both situations his wife held a role in the company, usually the company treasurer. Delbert Havens Collection

Scope and Contents The material of this collection was collected by Delbert L Havens, who was born in Grand Rapids in 1898, while he was in Europe with the A.E.F. following World War One from 1919-1922. While in Europe, Delbert was a driver for General John J. Pershing and drove him to the first ever meeting of the League of Nations.
